Frequently Asked Questions
Some screens and assessments will be lying on a treatment couch, some sitting, some standing and if possible, some small hopping ones.
None of the screens are strenuous and you do not have to do anything you feel uncomfortable with.
The initial assessment will require up to 1½ hours to complete.
An essential 1 hour follow-up appointment should be scheduled 1-3 days from your initial assessment. This is to re-screen and measure your body’s response to your Intrinsic Biomechanics Coaching. Adjustments to your programme could be required.
Follow-up screens on day 8, 18 & 32 (approximately) should be expected.
You should wear loose clothing, training shoes, shorts, running tights or leggings to enable me to assess each joint in the leg, including your foot & ankle.
I will need to see your shoulders and spine too, so for ladies - a strappy vest top is preferred, this can be hitched up to allow me to see the spine. For gents, I may ask them to remove their top.
Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions, you cannot bring a friend or family member with you to your assessment. Please ensure you follow UK Government Guidelines regarding Covid. A mask is not required in the treatment room.
While not a medical programme nor diagnostic, Intrinsic Biomechanics Coaching has had a huge amount of success with low grade, non-specific aches, niggles, recurring injuries and pains. However, if medical conditions are present this must be considered in advance; and we may seek advice from your doctor or current therapist.
When you choose to go ahead, I will send you the relevant medical forms to be completed. All evidence of medical conditions that you have/had (if any), MRI scans, reports or x-rays should be emailed to me prior to your appointment.
During the initial 5 weeks, our goals are to identify problem areas, assess which exercises are of the greatest benefit to you, monitor your adherence to the programme, make any necessary changes to your daily routine at home/work and to get you onto the second phase as quickly as possible.
My contact will initially be daily, to help support, monitor and advise you.
As a necessary part of my service, you will have access to my advice via email, phone or video calling.
I will supply you with your notes and documents to refer to for future use.
My aim is that you learn to “listen” to your body and leave my services with tools that empower you to manage your own physical health, so that you can live your life and do the things you love to do.
